How and Where is your BEST birth?

I have learned that each mother has her own idea of what an ideal birth is. For some moms just avoiding a c-section is enough while for another it is birthing her baby in her own home. Is there really a BEST place and a BEST way to birth? I think there are certain guidelines that help have a safer birth but so many variations on what is ideal. What is your opinion? What is your view of an ideal birth?

  1. I think it really is different for every mother. I thought I knew my perfect birth scenario but it wasn't until my recent experience that I know what is right for me.

I always thought I'd want a very low intervention home birth. I was very sad when I realized that it probably wasn't best for me.

Many complications in pregnancy leave me with a need for medical intervention in order to keep the baby in. So, finding a doctor that would help me achieve a "home birth" at a hospital was what I set out to find.

I found it. I was able to get the medical care I needed and have the natural, peaceful birth I wanted.

I feel like you need to be knowledgeable in all the ways of birthing and go what feels best for you and your baby.

  2. Amanda, it definitely helps when you are educated on what is normal birth and also what is normal for your care provider/hospital. I'm so glad you had a wonderful experience, due largely to your research and commitment!
